Ljubljana, Slovenia’s vibrant capital, will host FEMS MICRO 2027 at the GR - Ljubljana Exhibition & Convention Centre. The compact city is easy to navigate and ideal for connection and discovery. It features modern infrastructure, strong sustainability initiatives, and a focus on innovation.

Ljubljana lies nearly halfway between Vienna and Venice. Its location means major European airports are just a convenient two-hour flight away, making it well-accessible.

Located just a short walk from Ljubljana’s city centre, the venue is easily reached on foot, by bike, or via public transport, offering a convenient and well‑connected setting for all attendees.

Easy Access to FEMS MICRO 2027

By plane

All flights to and from Ljubljana are operated through the Jože Pučnik Ljubljana Airport. The driving distance from the airport to the city centre is 25 kilometres.  

Due to Ljubljana's proximity to other European cities, attendees to FEMS MICRO 2027 can also choose to fly via alternative airports

By train or coach

The main train station and coach station are located 5-minute walk from the GR. From either station you go right towards the Dunajska Street, then turn right to the Dunajska Street and under the railway overpass straight for 300 metres and you will arrive to the GR. 

By car

The GR address is Ljubljana, 18, Dunajska Street. No matter which direction you come from, take one of the city’s main entrances to the city centre. At the crossroads at the Intercontinental Hotel, drive onto the Dunajska Street. Go under the railway overpass and after about 300 metres you will see the GR halls on the right. If you arrive into the city along Dunajska Street from the North, turn left at the last crossroads before your destination (GR) onto the Linhartova Street, at the first junction, turn right  and you will get to the fairgrounds from the back, where the parking lots are.  


visa requirements

Attendees of FEMS MICRO 2027 are encouraged to verify whether they require a visa to enter Slovenia. Foreign nationals may enter Slovenia with a valid passport and the appropriate visa or residence permit, unless exempt under national legislation or international agreements.

Slovenia has been part of the Schengen zone since 2007. EU/ EEA citizens do not need a passport to enter Slovenia, only a valid identity card. More information on how to obtain a visa is available on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.

Travel in LjubLJANA

Ljubljana is a very walkable city and the public bus network makes it easy to travel around. The city lines connecting all districts, which run according to regular schedules throughout the day, are complemented by suburban buses, which link Ljubljana to its close surroundings.  

Taking LPP buses to get to the GR is very simple. You get off the bus at the bus stop Razstavišče which is directly at the venue entrance. The following lines will get you to the GR:  3G, 6, 7, 7L, 8, 11, 11B, 12, 12D, 13, 14, 19B, 19I, 20 and 20Z.
