FEMS MICRO 2025 offered a wealth of knowledge through a captivating lineup of keynote speakers, each renowned for their groundbreaking contributions to microbiology. Attendees had the chance to hear from some of the most influential voices in the field. 

The programme explored four main topics: Eco Innovation, Health Horizons, Biotechnology, and Engagement & Growth — showcasing diverse research and perspectives from across the microbiology community. 

FEMS MICRO 2025 provided a variety of opportunities to build connections and strengthen professional networks through curated social gatherings. 

Newcomer’s Session 
First-time attendees were welcomed in a dedicated session designed to spark fast connections and kickstart networking. 

Opening Plenary
The Congress began with a warm welcome from the FEMS President Prof. Antonio Ventosa followed by keynote lecture by Carmen Buchrieser, FEMS Lwoff Awardee 2025, setting the tone for the days ahead and reuniting participants from across the microbiology community.

The final keynote, poster awards, and the announcement of FEMS MICRO 2027’s host city (Ljubljana, Slovenia) rounded off the event — a chance to reflect, celebrate, and say goodbye.
